Summer 2017

Cisco Systems Internship

San Jose, CA

As a Cisco intern, I developed iOS applications that leveraged Computer Vision to be used by the campus safety and security department. The first app used native iOS libraries to perform facial feature detection and ensure a photo submitted by an employee for their badge is compliant with corporate guidelines. The second application used OpenCV and OpenALPR to scan license plates in real time allowing the safety and security team to identify suspicious vehicles as employee owned or not.

I learned so much about Software Engineering including how to work in a professional development environment. I learned Xcode and Objective C on the job, connected to production Oracle databases to retrieve employee profiles, and I presented my work at the final conference. The apps were tested and validated by the campus security team but were archived when I left the company.
